...I wanted to do something a bit different other than a card for my niece this year. I only have a few things that aren't packed, so here's what I came up with...

{not alot of scrappin goin on...
Things have been crazy since we started the addition on our house. It will be so nice to have the extra room and I am just prayin we have it all done before the baby gets here. :0)
In the meantime, this weekend was deer season....that's considered a holiday weekend at our house!
Friday...
Aaron & I were both able to hunt since the boys had school. We didn't get to take any shots, but Aaron did get to see a real nice buck. Just no shot option.
Saturday morning....
Coe had spent the night at a friends house, so we woke Chase up nice and early and headed to our deer stands. Chase sat with Aaron in our "big stand" and with a thermos full of hot cocoa and a bookbag full of coloring books, he was content. I was across the field from them, so we were still able to see each other shoot if one of us got the chance. The morning was an eventful one for me. I had a coyote out behind me about 100 yards for most of the morning. He did finally come in to about 40 yards, but was behind me in with some cattle. I also got to see 3 does come in at about 130 yards. They headed towards Aaron & Chase's way, but at the last minute turned and went the other way. I was glad to later hear Chase at least got to see one of them. Pretty soon, here comes 13 turkeys across the field! I was so excited about this. We very rarely see turkey on our ground...now just to get them to stay here! After awhile, they made there way right to Aaron & Chase's stand. Chase got to see them up close...so exciting for him too! About 10:00, Chase and I decided to head back to the house to go pick up Coe. No sooner did we get back and I heard a shot. I knew it was Aaron & right away called to see what he got. It was a button buck, and he made a great shot. So we grabbed the four-wheeler and headed back to pick up Aaron and the deer...
{...his first deer with his new flinter....congrats honey!}
Aaron had so badly wanted to shoot one while Chase was with him. But Chase had so problem still claimin this as "his" deer even though we wasn't exactly right with daddy when it was shot. He still deserved it....4 hours in a deer stand is a long time for a 5 year old!
We all headed back out that evening once Coe was home. Didn't get to see anything this time, but it was such a great feeling to be out there as an entire family. Coe and I got to see a great sunset....
Sunday...
We all four woke up bright and early again...Coe is so like his mama and NOT a morning person, but we all made it out the door on time. :0)
We split off at the opening of the field and Chase & Aaron went to their stand and Coe & I went to ours. Coe & I had just got into our stand and were getting situated when we heard a shot. Coe just knew for sure it was his daddy and he was right! I called and he had shot a nice 8 pointer! Soon after, here came the doe that was with him... right infront of Coe & I. Coe did so great sitting still when I told him to! I ended up having 2 chances at shooting at this doe with my flintlock, but was unsuccessful both times. I felt bad for Coe not getting to see me shoot one while he was with me, but it was a good opportunity to share with Coe {and myself} the importance of practicing with my gun ahead of season more and that nerves really can get the best of you! Coe was great. I just kept apologizing to him and he said "it's okay mom, I still had fun."
I headed across the field to check out Aaron's deer and Coe headed back to get the four-wheeler for us. He is getting so big...it just amazes me!
We took a few minutes to sit and talk and have a hot cocoa & coffee break. How awesome to get to do that in the timber that early in the morning!
The boys had fun checking out daddy's deer and Chase loved telling Coe all the details...
Daddy & the boys with "their" deer...
We enjoyed our weekend hunting as a family! I can only hope this little girl we are welcoming in March knows what she is in for! :0)
