Here are 2 I created so far...

For my first layout, I stuck to just the main kit and a variety of punches...
The vintage {Chicago} wheels were definitely my starting point for this layout. How amazing are those! I combined the main kit with lots of fun punches. New -Fiskars/Jenni Bowlin Grandma's Doily Medium Lever Punch, Fiskars/Jenni Bowlin Jenni's Butterfly Medium Lever Punch, Fiskars/Jenni Bowlin Tab Large Squeeze Punch, and from my stash - Martha Stewart heart & edgy circle, Stampin Up! circle punch.

I am in love with the October Afternoon Sidewalk Miscellany; add in the Ormolu fabric tags and the {artisian} quickly became my favorite kit! For the jounaling tag, I used the Days of the Weeks stamps with the Malted Milk ink to create a subtle background. I then ran it through my printer to add the journaling.

I strictly do natural light photography as I don't have a studio, which means I typically take the winter off. But every once I awhile a few friends come over and we set up a simple white backdrop up in my kitchen facing the window and do a little shoot. It's always fun and even better when I get to hold and snuggle a brand new little one.

{one little word...a challenge with JBS...

Doris sent over a challenge to the design team gals to come up with a layout using the main Jan JBS Merchantile kit and any office supplies we had at home.

I was super excited.
Sometimes it's a challenge just like this one that I need to get back into the creative grove.
So, I went to my desk drawer as well as a little basket of misc. I had and came up with this pile of goodies:

These watercolors would be perfect for adding splatters of color!

I also pulled a few punches that made me think of "office use"...

After a bit of playing and rearranging I came up with this layout...

I tucked my journaling into the little envelope I found...

{the truth is...it's time to get into shape...

...I usually don't post "me" stuff on my blog very often. But, with the New Year upon us, everyone is in the "get in shape" mood and I'm right there with ya. I started running last summer and I have been working on it ever since. I have a long way to go until I get where I want to be, but the truth is, I've come a long way too. {I need to tell myself this more often.}

My Christmas present this year was an iPod touch. I was super excited about the option of adding an Nike+ Chip to my running routine. This is the coolest thing ever and under 20 bucks!

You put it in your shoe {if you have the Nike shoes} or if you wear a different brand shoe you can just buy a holder for it on Amazon. It talks to your iPod {or iPhone} while you're running. Then if you're an iPod user; when you get home you just upload the information from your run to the Nike + website!

The website also lets you set goals for yourself. Mine is to run 30 miles in the month of Jan. Everytime I upload my run info it tells me how many more miles I need to do to reach my goal. Awesome!!!

Okay, {deep breath} this is me...at my current weight & body shape. I could point out lots of "to fix" spots, but I'll skip over that.
Hopefully in a few months I'll be back with a few pics of a little less me!

{one little word 2012...

I've done alot of thinking about what I wanted my 2012 word to be.

I started 2 years ago when I was introduced to the idea by ali edwards.

My 2010 word was...

This was the year Ella was born and we became a family of 5.
We had to get back into the baby mode after 5 years.
My photography business was growing which meant I wasn't home much on the weekends.
Aaron was and always is great about taking care of the kids and keeping things running smoothly.
Balance was something we learned to do well.

My 2011 word was...

I'm proud to say I did throw a few "gutter balls", but along the way I also completed a few personal goals.
I started running, joined the Y and lost 25 lbs.
I was lucky enough to be on the design team for my all time favorite scrapbooking company: Sassafras.
As well as joining amazing teams like Jenni Bowlin, Basic Grey, & Bella Blvd.
After hunting my butt off for two years I was finally able to connect on a nice 8 point. {Click HERE for the story}

And my 2012 word is...

I want to focus on myself.
I want to focus more on my family.
I want to focus on managing my time better.
I want to focus on my photography and challenging myself.

I am having so much fun with this kit! Here's a few projects I was able to put together...

This layout is a combination of the paper crafting kit, the artisan add-on and coredinations cardstock for the base. It was fun to stick to a simple color combination which allowed the pink blanket behind Ella to stand out.

I LOVE this project kit! I used it a bit different, but that's what I love about these kits. You can make them your own. And the 7 Gypsies paper tape....swoon! I can't get enough!
I used a scrap piece of the MME paper from the Papercrafting kit for my cover & the happy days is from the packaging of MME buttons. Don't forget the packaging sheet from those wonderful JBS bingo cards too!

Each months page is going to be a place for me to write my goals and hopefully a bit of inspiration as I work on meeting them.

Today I had the chance to play a bit more with the December JBS Merchantile kit. Be sure and check it out, you'll love it!

I have been wanting to scrapbook these photos from a race my friend & I recently did. But, I had SO many and I'm just not a 2 page person. {I struggle with doing those for some reason.} So, I printed them about 1.5x1.5 inch. The larger photo is 3x3 inches to make it stand out a bit. The pattern of the My Minds Eye paper from the main kit reminds me of the many hills we climbed that day. Love it!

I used primarily the main kit for this layout with a few buttons mixed in from the Artisan kit. Love the OA stickers in the main. And I couldn't resist grabbing a bit of the wonderful tape from the project kit. So LOVING that! My title is cut with my Slice.

When I first saw the inspiration piece this month I knew right away that I wanted to do a vertical title. I love to play with my title work and this was a great excuse! I continued with the vertical design by using strips of paper to mimic the books shown in the original piece. I finished it off with just a few horizontal pieces to balance it all out and to keep the eye flowing.

The bright and fun colors of the Spring Flings & Easter Things collection are right up my alley. This is one of my favorite photos of my oldest & youngest and I knew the colors in this collection would be perfect. I love that this line can be used for so much more than just Easter. I grabbed the Chipboard Essentials from the Sophistics collection and layered them with stickers from the Alpha + bit sheet for a touch of dimension.

My friend Ginger & I did a race today that was 4+ miles through timber and creeks. We had SO much fun! Definately on my 2do list for next year!

{The duct tape is to help keep our shoes on our feet while we're running through all the mud. Thank goodness Ginger knew to do that!}

Sometimes I start with an inspiration piece and even though it gives me a creative jump start, it often takes off in a completely different direction.

This month I started with this beautiful piece...

The color orange is what jumped out at me first and of course with it being October, I thought pumpkins! So, I pulled a photo from one of our past trips to our favorite pumpkin patch and began the creative process.

When I'm trying to stick to a specific color combination, I love to pull out my scrap drawer and grab those certain colors. It doesn't matter the theme of the paper or the design, we're strickly looking for color here. Sometimes going outside of the box is fun, ya know?

So here's what I came up with...

{Remember at the beginning I was talking about taking that inspiration in a completely different direction? Well, I ended up swapping out the green for a turquoise and that's okay! It's all about the creative jump start!}

I'm also one who very rarely throws away any scraps. I try to keep everything incase I can possibly reuse it later. Like this piece of the chipboard here...

It was originally from the RV There Yet - Layered Chipboard Stickers - The Great Outdoors Collection by Heather Tozzi. I had used the bottom half on a past layout. So save those pieces, you just never know when you might use them!

Come join the JBS design team for a weekend of games, chats, and challenges!!

We will have chats each night at 9pm CST. That's Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Pretty Paper Party is the party to attend if you have a collection of paper stacked up for a rainy day, if you have more scraps of paper than you know what to do with (but you know you don't want to throw them away!) and if you've ever put a piece of paper back in your stash because it was just too special for the photos at hand. Through printable prompts and tutorial videos, Shimelle and dozens of special party guests will share beautiful and innovative techniques you can achieve with the paper you have already collected.

I'm super excited to be one of Shimelle's special party guests for this fun party!

My good-bye is up on the Sassafras blog today...sniff...sniff...

I'm going to start with saying what a huge honor it has been to be a part of Sassafras. It has been and still is my "go to" company. The products have always been fun, unique, and amazingly inspiring.
When looking back through my portfolio of pages, Sassafras pops up more often that not. If I had to choose my favorite all time collection, I would go with Athem. The colors and designs were just perfection...

This paper is still my fave...

and played a huge part in the inspiration of this page...

I thought I would share my top 10 faves {which became my top 12, but who's counting?} It was hard to narrow down when I have so many memories captured using Sassafras products.

I was approached by Easy Canvas Prints to review their canvas prints recently. Here is a look at the 16x20 inch canvas wrap print I received from them using a photo I took of Ella playing in the sprinkler this summer.

First off the quality is superb! I ordered my print with the .75 inch image wrap. They also offer a 1.5 inch wrap and a couple of different styles. I LOVE my 16x20 print but they offer a wide range of sizes and options.The delivery time was prompt and my print was well protected. What's more is that their prices are so reasonable! I have always wanted to convert some of my photos into canvas print form and I can honestly say I am loving the look of it. This is the first of many canvas prints I will be ordering from Easy Canvas Prints! I love it to see the transformation from photo to canvas! Go check them out!

From the first time I saw the preview of the Smash books, I was in love!
So, when Studio Calico had them in the shop, I snagged up 4! I couldn't decide which one I wanted the most. :0)

I have one started as my running journal, gave one as a gift to a special friend, and the other 2 were just sitting on a shelf looking pretty. Now, I'm just like the rest of you and am all about Pinterest these days, but I wanted something I could take with me to crops and to just have when my computer isn't with me. So, I dedicated my red smash book as my inspiration & design team calendar. Here's a little sneak of what my book looks like so far...

Take a look at this amazing photograph! All the beautiful umbrellas mixed together and visually recorded for one amazing piece of art...sigh...

The first thing I was inspired by with this piece was of course the umbrellas. The shapes of them and how they seemed to be layered. I wanted to mimic that on my page.
So, I grabbed these three diffent sized punches...

This months challenge over at JBS is to mix up the old with the new. It's my first layout for JBS, so I was excited to take part.

I combined the "homegrown" paper from the Homespun Paper pack with the new Be Our Guest - Mini Papers. The little house worked perfectly for my apple orchard theme. And those chalkboard alpha stickers have been a fave of mine for a long time. I mixed them with the new red shadow alpha to highlight the word "apple" in my title.

One of the hot new trends out in the scrapbooking world is "washi tape". Have you heard of it. It is so much fun. It's a quick way to add photos or embellishments to a layout, journal, or even hang a photo on the frig.
Well, I have a quick tip today on how to create "faux washi tape" using your favorite patterned paper.
For my sample today, I used the Salon Stripe, Red & Green - Scandia Jul Collection by Rob and Bob. Cut a strip...

Run it through your Xyron X...

Tear it by hand to give it a "natural" look. {This also allows you to create whatever size you need.}
And, attach your photos to your layout!

So simple and inexpensive!
